This week has been off as far as school goes since I was at a conference for two days. The kids did what I assigned them and are self sufficient, but a broken up school week is the perfect time to jump off the schedule.
Today we snuggled in with blankets and pillows and watched the 1993 movie Gettysburg. The kids knew more about the Civil War than I thought they did so they must have been doing their assignments. As we watched, we paused the movie and read about specific generals, people and places so that really helped in understanding what was going on.
It as so nice to have a flexible day with happy kids eager to learn and engaged in the topic. Even the kids get in the rut of getting school done rather than learning for the joy of it. Our time today was a lot of fun!
